Ο Leonard Norman Cohen

( 21 Σεπτεμβρίου 1934 – 7 Νοεμβρίου 2016) 

ήταν Καναδός συγγραφέας, συνθέτης και τραγουδιστής.

Θεωρείτο μουσικός της Pop, αν και τα τραγούδια του 

— κυρίως μπαλάντες — 

είχαν πολλά στοιχεία 

από την αμερικανική μουσική Country

και την μουσική των ευρωπαϊκών cabaret 

Τα κύρια θέματα της δημιουργίας του 

ήταν η θρησκεία, ο έρωτας και η μοναξιά, 

χωρίς ωστόσο να λείπουν και οι τοποθετήσεις 

σε κοινωνικοπολιτικά θέματα 

όπως ο πόλεμος, οι εκτρώσεις, κ.λπ.

Ο Leonard Cohen ήταν μοναδικός. 

Ένα είδος που σήμερα είναι σχεδόν εξαφανισμένο. 

Ένας Καλλιτέχνης, 

ένας Προσκυνητής, 

μια παλιά Ψυχή.

Έψαξε την αληθινή έννοια της αγάπης, 

μέσω της ποίησης, της μουσικής, του διαλογισμού, 

της αίσθησης, του Νου και του Σώματος.

Έδειξε την Αγάπη 

ως την αναζήτηση της θαυματουργής, 

της εσωτερικής αναζήτησης, 

τη λαχτάρα να ανακαλύψει την αληθινή φύση μας, 

να ανακαλύψουμε τη θεότητα 

που απεικονίζεται στο μισό μας που λείπει.

Η μουσική του μιλά κατευθείαν στην Καρδιά, 

διότι μιλάει για το νόημα της Ζωής.

Σε έναν κόσμο με αναταραχή και παγκόσμια κρίση αξιών, 

τα τραγούδια του είναι ένας παράδεισος για την ψυχή.

 Έζησε τα καλύτερα δημιουργικά του χρόνια στην Ύδρα, 

το βραχώδες νησί 

που αγαπούσε και εμπνεύστηκε βαθιά.

Ήταν μια πολύ ξεχωριστή εποχή 

και είναι ο Πρέσβης αυτής της εποχής και της Ύδρας.
